The event is being held at the Plaza de Toros, starting at 22.15h and counts on such competitors as Edgar Torronteras, who holds Nº1 slot in the Spanish Championships in the Free-Style field. Another big name on the national circuit is José Miralles, who is a sub-champion in the world arena

The photos belong to the descendents of Paul Sollmann (1886-1950) from Germany who took many photos in that year of Granada city and province, as well as other cities in Spain. This photographer and impressionist painter live in Granada until the 1920’s when he returned to his homeland. Whilst living in Granada, he married Granadina Angelina Macho Millet Martos.

The photos will be on display until September, so there is plenty of time, but don’t forget, of course.

The object is two fold: to raise funds to finance the very valuable services that the volunteers provide, and to promote reading as an aid for the prevention of memory loss

“I always wanted to be more than a tourist. I like to participate in, and observe the Spanish life around me. Of course, this gives me the inspiration to paint. Consequently, I paint for my Spanish neighbors. With my paintings, I remind them how beautiful Andalucía is. They know this, but very often they forget. My paintings are colorful and simple. The style is naive. As an artist, I must know my tools well, which means I must know about colors and their impact on each other and how this affects, and creates, the expression wanted in my painting.”

When asked about her background, she told me she was taught in Aarhus, Denmark. She didn’t study painting per say, but rather studied all the relevant subjects of art. She also studied visual advertisement in University. She said, “One of my best experiences was the pure magic I felt when developing photographs in the darkroom. Today, however, I feel this pure magic when I paint.”

If you are looking for a cultural breakaway, this exhibit is a good reason to escape to Málaga for the day. Along with Anne Marie’s art, Espacio Tres will feature the work of two other Spanish artists as well. The exhibition opens July 6th, but the inauguration takes place on Fri. July 9th at 20:00 p.m.. Furthermore, located next to Espacio Tres is Málaga’s Contemporary Art Centre, which is also well worth a visit. They have current exhibitions along with a permanent art collection. CAC Málaga’s permanent collection features artwork from the 1950’s to the present and include pieces by internationally renowned artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Art & Language, Olafur Eliasson, Thomas Hirschhorn, Damian Hirst, Julian Opie, Thomas Ruff and Thomas Struth. I took a little wander down with my family and some friends to spend a warm Saturday afternoon passing a few hours sampling some of the very best dishes, the local restaurants prepare, and then wash it all down with a glass of vino or two. And I was not disappointed; in fact the opposite I was spoilt for choice and it took me several circuits of the feria to make my first decision. However once into the swing of it all I quickly learnt to travel from stall to stall, order my tapas and enjoy.

The food was presented beautifully and all freshly prepared. We had a great selection on our table of paella from Chambao de Joaquín , to a selection of warm meat dishes from Reina Sofia, caesar salads prepared by Los Laureles and much more.

It was early evening when we finally left and started the long walk home, which we surely needed to work off some of the calories.

(Ed.) Mari and I also descended upon the park, like a swarm of locusts and stallholders fended us off with savoury dishes to stop us nibbling at their awning canvas and leering at passers-by with plates of goodies.

Seriously though, the concept of the gastronomic fair is a brilliant one, because it allows you to combine dishes from your favourite restaurants, all in one sitting.

Some of the tasty dishes to be had over the weekend on which the fair was held were: Arbol blanco’s rabo de toro, the Mirador de Cerro Gordo’s croquetas, La Trattoria’s omni-present pizzas and Mari & Miguel’s grilled meats.

So pleased with her Doctor and the treatment she received that she promised her surgeon, Dr Chang she would run the Great Wall of China Marathon and raise money for his charity ‘The Magic Fund’ (Mastering Gastric and Intestinal Cancers) once she was fit and well. And in May 2010 she did just that!
Continuing to support the charity Anne and her husband Keith are organising their next event.

This will take place on the 10th July between 1.00pm and 6.00pm at the Mirador de Cerro Gordo, with the kind support of Alix and Kevin. Tickets will cost 10 euros and will include a welcome drink and endless tasty Mirador tapas prepared by Kevin.

There will be entertainment in the afternoon as well as an ‘Auction of Promises.’ Anne has asked local business to donate fantastic gifts of jewellery, meals in restaurants, introductory dives, boat trips, and, medical checks (MOT), which will be auctioned off in the afternoon to the highest bidder and all funds raised to go to the charity.
