And it won’t cost you an arm and a leg, because bearing the present miserable economic climate, the entrance fee is only 20 euros per adult and a reduced price for kids.

The event is being held at the Plaza de Toros, starting at 22.15h and counts on such competitors as Edgar Torronteras, who holds Nº1 slot in the Spanish Championships in the Free-Style field. Another big name on the national circuit is José Miralles, who is a sub-champion in the world arena

The photos belong to the descendents of Paul Sollmann (1886-1950) from Germany who took many photos in that year of Granada city and province, as well as other cities in Spain. This photographer and impressionist painter live in Granada until the 1920’s when he returned to his homeland. Whilst living in Granada, he married Granadina Angelina Macho Millet Martos.

The photos will be on display until September, so there is plenty of time, but don’t forget, of course.

Local Danish artist, Anne Marie Broegger Nielsen, will be exhibiting her paintings at the contemporary art gallery Espacio Tres in Málaga from July 6th – July 25th. This lovely lady currently lives in Motril, and when prompted to tell me more about herself, she told me the following:

“I always wanted to be more than a tourist. I like to participate in, and observe the Spanish life around me. Of course, this gives me the inspiration to paint. Consequently, I paint for my Spanish neighbors. With my paintings, I remind them how beautiful Andalucía is. They know this, but very often they forget. My paintings are colorful and simple. The style is naive. As an artist, I must know my tools well, which means I must know about colors and their impact on each other and how this affects, and creates, the expression wanted in my painting.”

When asked about her background, she told me she was taught in Aarhus, Denmark. She didn’t study painting per say, but rather studied all the relevant subjects of art. She also studied visual advertisement in University. She said, “One of my best experiences was the pure magic I felt when developing photographs in the darkroom. Today, however, I feel this pure magic when I paint.”

If you are looking for a cultural breakaway, this exhibit is a good reason to escape to Málaga for the day. Along with Anne Marie’s art, Espacio Tres will feature the work of two other Spanish artists as well. The exhibition opens July 6th, but the inauguration takes place on Fri. July 9th at 20:00 p.m.. For more information check out their website at www.espaciotres.es

Furthermore, located next to Espacio Tres is Málaga’s Contemporary Art Centre, which is also well worth a visit. They have current exhibitions along with a permanent art collection. CAC Málaga’s permanent collection features artwork from the 1950’s to the present and include pieces by internationally renowned artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Art & Language, Olafur Eliasson, Thomas Hirschhorn, Damian Hirst, Julian Opie, Thomas Ruff and Thomas Struth. Spanish art is featured as well and include works by Victoria Civera, Juan Muñoz, José María Sicilia, Miquel Barceló, Santiago Sierra and Juan Uslé. Read more at www.cacmalaga.org

Espacio Tres is located at Calle Alemania 3, Málaga. Open Tues. to Fri. From 11:30-14.00 and 18:00-21:00. Sat. and Sun. from 11:30-14:00.

Needing a change of scenery from downtown Almuñécar, I headed for Taramay today. I decided to visit Restaurant/Pizzaría El Tesorillo for a bite to eat.I am really excited because I think I may just have found my new ‘chill-out’ hot spot for the summer. Let me tell you why:

The location is perfect, as it is nestled on what I consider one of our nicest beaches, Playa del Tesorillo. The atmosphere there is completely relaxing and the view is spectacular. I actually felt like I was on holiday as I sat there enjoying my clara under the sun and watching the activity on the beach. The owners, Rafael and Laura, are super sweet and easy-going and made me feel right at home.

The menu has plenty of options to choose from, ranging from their menu of the day, salads, fresh fish, pasta dishes and, of course (my favorite), pizza. I can highly recommend their pizza called Picante, which I devoured today. Another obvious reason I’ll be lounging out there is the giant paella and fresh-fish skewers (espetos) they will be serving on the beach all summer.

Starting July, there will be a ‘drink’ fiesta every Fri. and Sat. evening starting from 23:30 where everyone will receive a free gift when they buy the drink of the night. You’ll find me there on Mojito Night for sure. Furthermore, I was told they have an entertaining flamenco show every Thursday that starts at 10:00 p.m. It is the perfect spot to eat, relax or have fun at this summer. Tel. 629 067 284.

Telitec communications are looking for an agent here in the Costa Tropical to promote their mobile and fixed line services.

They have a fantastic product range providing low-cost telephone calls from your mobile, even to overseas numbers. Calls on their mobile service are only seven cents per minute to Spanish mobiles and an even cheaper 5.3 cents per minute to the UK landlines and many other European destinations.

They even allow you 100 five-minutes calls between Telitec customers for free (subject to 15 cent connection charge) and texts from only 9 cent each! Telitec’s landline services are equally impressive with calls at one cent per minute to most European landline destinations.

We asked whether the call quality was poor with delays, only to be told we were speaking through their system and the quality was perfect! So if you are looking to cut down your phone bills, or if you are interested in representing Telitec here on the Costa Tropical, check out their web page at http://www.telitec.com/
